Medical Exam

All the kids have to have a medical exam before they can receive their visa and leave the country. There wasnt much to it. We had to bring her referral and her immunization booklet (which has nothing recorded).
First we had to get her picture taken for her Visa. Great...sit in a chair by herself and not cry. :) We have done this before and didnt go so well. We took her blanket away by giving her a french fry. She started to cry when we put her in the chair but then we gave her another fry! SAVED BY THE  FRIES!! :)

Sorry this post got messed up with pics in the middle and they are in no particular order but I am not spending the time to change it! :)

Mayleigh was sharing snacks with her friend, Zoe. Zoe is just a doll. Just giggles all the time and is in love with Jeff! She has a very sweet family too! :)

M giving snacks away! She likes to hand things to us or people. That we have figured out since we have had her!

This was yesterday! Just hanging with Daddy eating her fav snack!

Opening up and giving Carolyn snacks!

Happy in her crib!

The famous wine vending machine on the bottom floor of the medical exam building! In case your medical exam didnt go well, you can just grab a bottle on the way out! :)

Yep, the visa picture. Our guide is trying to tuck her hair behind her ears. For her passport picture it had to be that way too. Not sure why!

Luckily when we walked into the clinic, we got to go to a special area. There were tons of sick people in the waiting room. We are so glad we were by ourselves in our own area!

Mayleigh getting checked out! Of course, not happy about it!

A few more snacks with Zoe!!

We had to go to 3 stations. One was weight, height and temperature. Thank goodness this wasnt last week when she had a 103/104 fever. Not sure if they would have made us stay or what? Glad we dont have to find out! :) Poor girl was only 18.5 lbs. She has dropped weight this since we got her since she hasnt really been eating. I cant even tell you how tiny she is! And all those pics we had of her made her look so much bigger! Its crazy!
We then went to the ENT. Basically she looked in her ears for 2 seconds and down her throat and that was that. Then onto the overall exam. The listened to her heart, checked over her body and asked us a couple questions. They asked us if she is walking normal...ugh..YEP! (even though she has barely taken more than 5 steps) But why bring anything up that they dont need to know! Right! Plus there english wasnt great and I didnt want anything lost in translation or misunderstood! So we just kept saying yep and smiling! :) Actually our guide was telling us about the few questions we had to answer on some questionnaire when we got there. One was, has your child had a fever in the last 7 days. She basically just said to lie. Perfect...DONE! :) I am so sad she had a fever all last week...but it could have been worse......it could have been this week and we may have been stuck here longer!!

The poor kids that are 2 and above have to do a TB test. They take them from you and go into a room and close the door. We assume tie them down to draw blood. :( So glad M didnt have to do that. She has had enough trauma for the week!

As we were waiting for everyone to get done we gave M some of her favorite snacks. She was opening up to the other kids and sharing. It was nice to see. I tell you, having her fav food is about the only time we see her somewhat come alive. We have figured out that at breakfast she will eat yogurt. And last night she figured out she liked yogurt melts. Thank you so much to Katy Higginbotham (another adoptive mom) who gave me a bag for her!! Its so nice to have everyone pulling for M. They all just want to see her eat!

We ate a quick sandwich at Starbucks in the hotel and we are back in the room for the afternoon for M to nap. Its sad because when we are in the room, she reaches for her pack n play. So its easy to put her down for a nap but makes me sad that she wants to be along. I know she needs love but I am sure she needs some space too. They have a play area here in the hotel so we thought we might try taking her there after she gets up. Doubt she will play but we will see if some of the other kids want to join us and maybe she will watch. ?? Well see! Then we have a group dinner at a local Chinese restaurant with our guide tonight.

A few more pics of us hanging out at the medical exam! She was out of her shell here!! :)
