Finalizing the Adoption...Mayleigh is officially a Lloyd!

I cant believe after having 3 kids of my own how much I felt like I was bringing my first newborn home from the hospital last night!!! We were both just terrified of what to do and what not to do. We just dont know her at all! I was so nervous about how her first sleep with us would go. She unfortunately still has a fever and so that hasnt helped.
So we got ready for bed (after I fretted about an undershirt under her fleece jammies or not to put one on) and she layed with Jeff on his chest. She was exhausted and not feeling well so it didnt take her long to fall asleep. We were luckily able to move her and keep her asleep. With that darn sweater in her mouth! ;) She slept great from 9-2. Then she woke up and was burning up. 102.2 fever. :( We were up for about an hour with her giving her water and a snack. We werent crazy about feeding her a snack in the middle of the night but she seemed hungry and really didnt eat a lot yesterday. Eventually we got her back to sleep around and she slept another 4 hour stretch. So all and all it wasnt too bad. Just hope we can get her transitioned to her own bed. I know right now she just needs to feel safe...so that is what we are doing.
So this morning we were all headed back to finalize the adoption. They give you the first 24 hours to have guardianship and to see if you want to change your mind. It's crazy, I know. No way were we changing our minds! But sometimes there are circumstances where the special need may have been not disclosed and the family cant take the child. That would be awful!! So there we went, back to that same room where the kids were traumatized as they were handed to complete strangers just yesterday. Luckily Mayleigh had fallen asleep all snuggle in my front carrier and she pretty much slept through it! The other kids didnt seem to mind tho so that was good! After we got the official paperwork, we headed to the notary office. On the bus over there, I was kissing Mayleigh's neck and actually got a few smiles and a giggle out of her! That was awesome!! She just looks so sad so much of the time and its heartbreaking. Just can't wait to see her come out of her shell! The good news is that even though she looks sad, she seems comforted by Jeff and I. She lays her head on our shoulders a lot and calms down really quickly when she does cry. She hasnt the sweetest little cry. Not loud at all.
Since she has still had a fever and seems to be feeling pretty yucky, our guide suggested we take her to the hospital to get her checked out. I guess they do this instead of a doctors office. We are going to do with our guide in about an hour. I am a little nervous about it. She said most likely they will prick her finger to draw blood to see if its a virus or an infection. Seems weird...but we want to get her checked out.
Tomorrow is a long day of driving. Everyone in the Henan province is required to go to the childs birth city for the child's passport. So we have to drive 3.5 hours one way (and thats without traffic) to do that tomorrow. Pretty much dreading it. The only good news is that she is so content just sitting on our laps so hopefully it wont be too bad. We are hoping to go to her the school where our paperwork said she was abandoned. I would like to have pictures of that. It will be nice to see the city where she was born too. It makes me think so much about her birth parents and how they must be feeling. There is no doubt that they gave her up because of her medical issues. We are just so lucky in those 6 days after birth and and her finding day that she made it. So lucky to have her laying next to me!!! :) What
a blessing she is!!!
Our guide suggested we go to the hospital and get Mayleigh checked out! Wow, that was an experience! The good news was that our guide called the American dr who lives at Maria's big house of Hope. He has taken care of M and knows her well. We talked about her issues and it possibly being a UTI. He said go ahead and have the dr look at her. So the Chinese dr said her throat was red. She sounds a little congested too. So there they send them to get a finger prick to see if it bacterial or viral. Weird! Poor girl had had some traumatic days!! They hit her blood levels and told us it would be good for her to stay and get meds thru and IV. I said heck no! Thank God for dr Steve. We called him back and he talked to the dr and told them that we Americans are weird and we don't like to use IV! Haha! He assured me her blood levels were fine! I was so freaked out at that point but sooo beyond thankful that we had Dr Steve!! So we finally got the antibiotics and went home. That trip to the hospital cost us about $16. Crazy! We are praying sweet Mayleigh's antibiotics kick in and she starts feeling better!!
